Expansion of Elephant Apple Cultivation – 2022

The Sarasavi Plant Nursery in the Nuwara Eliya District, located in the Haguranketha Divisional Secretariat area, operates as a registered Grade A nursery under the Department of Agriculture. With 50% financial support from the Regional Economic Development Authority, an initiative was undertaken to produce Elephant Apple (Dillenia indica). As part of this program, a secured greenhouse was established, and 200 Hash variety Elephant Apple plants were distributed free of charge.
