about REDA

We have been established since 2007

The Regional Economic Development Agency was established by the Central Provincial Council by Proclamation No. 1 of 2008 upon the termination of the Sri Lanka German Cooperation Program in 2007.

This institution and the provincial institution in which the state and the private sector participate are unique institutions that implement various development projects such as investment promotion and promotion of regional, small center and large-scale enterprises.

WHY ESTABLISH REDA?

The Central Province is not second to any of the provinces in the country as far as the human, physical and environment resources are concerned. In spite of the rich resource base, the public sector together with the private sector still could contribute only around eight percent to the Gross Domestic Production of the country. Analyses show that a number of hindering factors has lead to create this disadvantage situation. Therefore, it is necessary to take some dynamic remedies to clear these factors, if one expects a remarkable positive change in the economy of the Central Province.

VISION

Be the most reliable, accessible and affordable service provider in the mind of clients while paying due recognition on the rich heritage, social dynamisms and environment of the region.

MISSION

Pave the path for fruitful collaborations among the relevant parties to strengthen regional development.

OBJECTIVES

The general objective of the REDA is to enhance the regional economy through strengthening of the development initiatives of the private and public sectors. More specifically REDA supports to improve quality, market volume, profit margins of regional economic development initiatives of the Central Province and elsewhere in the country.
